Van der Zande given grid penalty
Renger van der Zande has lost his third place on the grid for the Valencia DTM race after a tyre mix-up during qualifying. Race stewards found that the Dutchman had used two sets of tyres during Q3 - one more than is allowed. However, they conceded that as he had not completed a flying lap on the second set, the only advantage the Persson Mercedes driver gained was during the following Q4 session
