Downpour halts IndyCar race
The Sao Paulo IndyCar race has been red-flagged after an enormous downpour hit the Brazilian street venue. The race had already begun in wet conditions and seen a string of early incidents, with outside front row starter Ryan Hunter-Reay ploughing into the tyres at the first corner, and a separate incident taking out Helio Castroneves, Simona de Silvestro, Danica Patrick and Tony Kanaan. Scott Dixon, Graham Rahal, Justin Wilson, Sebastien Bourdais and James Hinchcliffe were then involved in further incidents at the first restart, before the race was halted on lap nine when the rain increased to the extent that continuing to drive was impossible.
